The July 2009 issue of Trains Magazine has an article by the late Jim Warsher on the Erie Railroad and the "Erie Boosters" club of the 50's, and includes eight pages and twelve photos about the Erie Commuter Lines in northern New Jersey and southern New York state (via the Erielack e-mail list).

The hobby industry lost one of the great leaders in mid-June when Harold “Hal” Carstens passed away on June 23, 2009. His wisdom and knowledge is still enjoyed by readers of Railroad Model Craftsman, among other magazines. He will be sorely missed, and our deepest sympathies go out to the Carstens Family.
