ELHS 2010 Annual Meeting

September 24-26, 2010; Marion, OH

 

Come celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Erie Lackawanna Railroad in Marion, OH. Meeting & presentations will be held at the Marion Union Station with a banquet held at the Harding House hotel.We are just 18 days from the start of the convention and 2 days before online registration will close.  Don't delay sign up today!

We need to give the Harding Hotel an exact number for the banquet 10 days in advance of the event so please register for the meeting before September 8, 2010.  Any banquest registrations received after September 8th may not be honored.

All Presentations, Exhibits, and Vendor tables will be located at the Marion Union Station

Tentative Schedule

Friday September 24th

12 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. - Marion Union Station opens - check out the working signal displays, model boards and other displays inside - Tours of both the Station and AC Tower will be available.
4:00 p.m. - ELHS Registration Table opens at the Station. Attendees can pick up convention packets & name tags.
Approx. 8:30p.m. - Rich Behrendt: Introductions, Welcome and Announcements
Approx. 9:00 p.m. - ELHS Member Dave Oroszi starts off our Members open slide night with a special program dedicated to Marion.

Other short programs by Mike Schaffer, Pete Scheckerman, Dick Jacobs. Other short programs are invited

Other members are invited to bring their Erie, DL&W and EL related slides - a stack loader will be available.

Saturday Morning September 25th

8:30 a.m Station opens

10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. AC Tower open

10:00 a.m. - Preston Cook: Marion shops in b&w>

 

11:30am - 1:00 p.m. Lunch on your own - The Shovel Restaurant out in front of the Station has a great, affordable breakfast, lunch & dinner menu on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

1:15 p.m. - Dave Oroszi:The Dayton Branch

2:30 p.m. - <3:30 p.m.- Programs conclude

5:30 p.m - Harding Hotel opens for ELHS members - Cash bar available

6:30 p.m. Buffet banquet dinner

7:30 p.m. - Preston Cook's PowerPoint presentation on the Marion Diesel Shops

After Banquet - Members reconvene at Marion for nighttime slide presentations & train watching in the Station

10:00 p.m. -? Nightime tower operations display at AC Tower

Sunday, September 26st

- Railfanning and Departures

 

Gale Martin from the Marion Historical Society will give a presentation on the construction of Marion Union Station and the impact that the railroads made on the community.  We would also like to have a program on Marion Shovel provided we can find someone knowledgable about the subject.  These are  in addition to the above list schedule events.

To get the ELHS rate you must indicate that you are attending the ELHS convention for the weekend of September 24 -26, 2010 when making reservations.

Notes:

  • There is a small fee in the form of Shipping, Handling, & Tax added to the final transaction.  These are necessary to cover the Paypal transaction fee and are less than the $0.47 stamp and envelop used to mail in a paper registration
  • Deadline for online registration is September 8, 2010.
